Window Tinting Prices – Must Read Before Purchasing

Most people when searching for window tint ask the question, “What are the window tinting prices”? This tends to be one of the first questions people ask, and for good reason. Many people like the fact that they can tint the windows in their vehicle for UV protection, and for a little bit of privacy. However, many people are under the notion that all window tints are the same. This is simply not the case. There are a wide variety of vendors that sell a low-quality window tint. To the untrained eye, this window tint may look just fine, but this is not so. Low-quality window tint can form air bubbles in it after time, and obstruct the field of view for a driver. This can lead to embarrassment, frustration, and even a traffic accident.

The same goes for when talking about window films for your house or building!

Many people that end up having cheap window film applied to their house windows typically will have to have the tint redone because the film is bubbling. Some people may not think that it is a big deal that the window film has bubbles in it, but a tint bubble can be an eyesore. This can not only lead to an unsightly mess on a person’s window but also trying to clean the window film can be a chore too.

Cheap window tint can NOT be cleaned with ammonia-based window cleaners such as Windex or other major household cleaners. This becomes a high maintenance situation when hiring a cleaning company to clean your home or office. If ammonia is used on the window tint it can make the tint become permanently cloudy, and it will be difficult to see out of it.

Cheap window tint will typically turn purple when it has been exposed to the sun’s harmful UV rays. This is due to the tint not being treated with the proper amount of ultra-violet radiation coating. The harmful rays of the sun will penetrate through the tint, and will start to break it down on a molecular level.

Another quick item to point out regarding window tinting prices is the warranties. Most cheap window tint companies offer a very basic warranty, that might last a few years if you are lucky. This can be a bad thing if and when you need to call on that warranty for repair or replacement. So when researching window tint films, don’t start the question with “what are the window tinting prices”, but rather ask yourself, “Am I willing to take the risk?”

Why should I buy a premium window film for my home or office?

The best window film products tend to be installed by the best installers. Usually, this means that the companies that represent the top of the line products have been around the block for a while. The premium companies like 3M also require their installers to be factory-trained, which means you will get the best window tint installation possible. Instead of the guy that learned how to tint his car in high school without the education.

Ask the company about the UV protection on the window films too. Most cheap window tints have a layer of UV in the film itself, but 3M company makes theirs with an UltraViolet prohibitor right in the adhesive. Since the window film is installed on the inside of the property, this means that the adhesive side of the film is the very first thing to get exposed to the sunlight. Now when the sun hits that adhesive it will not bubble or turn colors from all the UV exposure, instead, it remains clear and performs perfectly.

3M also allows customers to use household cleaners such as Windex or other “Ammonia” based products to clean the window films. This can be a huge safeguard especially if you have kids that like to help with chores around the house. Now you can know for certain that the thousands of dollars you invested in the window tint is still going to work. Unlike the cheap tint.

Probably one of the most important aspects when comparing window tinting prices is the warranty. Now Dave Ramsey is not a big advocate of purchasing the extended warranties of products, because it is a waste of money. However, that is not the case with the premium window films. 3M in fact gives the best warranty in the industry for FREE. When you purchase 3m window films for your home or office, you get the standard warranty for FREE, which includes the following:

  1. The warranty covers the installation – guaranteeing you as the customer that the installation was done by factory/industry standards.
  2. It covers your concerns about using Ammonia cleaners. Basically says that if you do use “Windex” it is ok – in writing.
  3. Covers your glass from breaking from the wrong tint being used on the glass – usually car tint
  4. Covers your glass from getting foggy or hazing – this is also caused by cheap window tint, but 3M says they cover it in writing.
  5. 3M is the oldest window film manufacturer in the world, they are over 100-year-old company. Now, who do you trust to redeem your warranty if you ever had to?

The bottom line when searching for window tinting prices is to ask yourself about the price to risk ratio. Sure everyone has a budget that they need to work within but that does not mean that the cheap tint is the way to go. By applying the cheapest product, you are almost guaranteed to have issues at some point, especially if you stay in that property for more than 7 years. You might end up replacing that film and spending more than if you just went with the 3M product from Energy Control Consultants in the first place. To see the difference click here.
